Green up your street

St George in Bloom wish to encourage local residents in St George to come together to ‘Green up their streets’ with colourful floral displays and your street could receive £100 to help make it happen.

18320481_1294311387319004_7151914219674970921_oStreets that are colourful, tidy, and free from weeds and litter help to raise everyone’s spirits and show that we care for the area where we live.

St George in Bloom will award £100 to the first five streets from St. George who apply for the street category in the St. George in Bloom competition in 2017.

The rules are simple-

  • For the street entries a whole street or group of a minimum of five residents in a street can apply.
  • All street entries must be located within the ward boundaries for St George.
  • The floral displays must be visible to the public within the street.

St George in BloomThe first five street category entries received this year will receive £100 from St. George in Bloom. (Please note:- The £100 award will not be given to each household from the same street. Receipts for plants etc must be submitted from the street to St. George in Bloom when the enhancement project is completed)

The street or group of residents will have their floral exhibits judged by the St George in Bloom judges some time during July and will be invited to attend the St George in Bloom awards ceremony in October (date to be announced.)

Other categories in this year’s St George in Bloom competition are:

    Large front garden;
    Small front garden;
    House frontage leading directly onto the pavement;
    House frontage only – hanging basket, window box or containers;
    Best Wildlife Friendly Garden;
    Best business or commercial premises including Best ‘Blooming’ Pub;
    Best forgotten Corner or community open space that was previously neglected;
    Best Children’s Display or School entry;
    Best Allotment Space (individual) Please state plot number.

The closing date for all entries is 5pm on Monday 24th July 2017.
