Roadworks in St George until April 2013

Sewer improvement works will affect

  • Lypiatt Rd – 21st Jan – 25th March 2013
  • Clovelly Rd – 11th Feb – 15th Feb 2013
  • Hudd’s Vale Rd – 21st Jan – 26th April

More details in this Post newspaper clipping of Thursday 17th January, 2013.

For details of roadworks across Bristol visit – click on the Roadworks Report document on the right hand side of the screen.  According to the St George information there:

  • roadworks on Cross St. which have caused a closure from Seymour Road to Downend Road will finish on 22nd January.
  • the footway closure outside 347 Church Rd could continue until 13th March.  14 x 2-bedroom apartments and retail space are being built on this site.

Friends of Troopers Hill have passed on an update from Bristol City Council about a possible closure of Troopers Hill Rd.  The lower chimney on the corner of Troopers Hill Rd and Crews Hole Rd needs some repairs and Troopers Hill Rd may need to be closed when this is done.  Due to the wet weather and now frosty weather the plans to do this have been put back to March or April.  The building materials to be used include lime which cannot be applied in frosty conditions.

Meadow Vale Community Centre – invitation for proposals to carry out a study of future options

Meadow Vale Community Centre is a small building, owned by Bristol City Council,  in Meadow Vale opposite the junction to Ripley Rd in the Speedwell area of  the ward of St George West.  It backs on to a small park known locally as the Nursery Park but shown on council maps as Meadow Vale Open Space.

The building currently has a very limited range of use and Bristol City Council is inviting proposals for a study to be carried out to identify future options.  Further details are in this document.

If you have contacts with people or organisations who could carry out a good quality study please forward the information to them.  The St George Neighbourhood Partnership Wellbeing Fund is contributing towards the costs of the study.
