Community Champion receives Lord Mayor’s Award

Ann with the Lord Mayor

Our warmest congratulations to St. George Neighbourhood Partnership member, Ann Radnedge.

Ann attended the Mansion House on Wednesday 25th April to receive the Lord Mayors Gold medal that recognises her services to the community, and her work in charitable and community-based initiatives over a long period of time.

Ann set up Meadow Vale Community Centre in 1984, after obtaining the building in an almost derelict state from the council. As Chairperson of Meadow Vale Community Association, she ensured that the building was made fit for use, and it has served the local community ever since. Ann was also previously involved in many significant national initiates, including the role of Vice Chair of the National Association of Women’s Clubs, and Chair of the Good Neighbour Service in St George. Ann also instigated a National Health Service Prescription collection and delivery service for elderly residents in St George, which then went on to become more widely adopted.
On a personal level, I have known Ann since 1964 as a neighbour and friend, and I was honoured that she asked me to accompany her when she received her award.

I’m aware of her sheer hard work, dedication and personal commitment to Meadow Vale Community Association and the community it serves, together with her kindness and generosity of spirit when helping others. The award was extremely well deserved, and Ann is still working behind the scenes to continue her good work.
